About Us

Take The Reins Foundation is a 501(c) 3 organization founded in 2006. We fund research for new treatments of equine cancer to not-for-profit scientific and academic centers and educational research institutions. Funds are generated through corporate and private donations, membership, and fundraising efforts.

Our inspiration takes shape in a horse named Chili. His battle with equine malignant melanoma and the courage of every horse victimized by cancer fortify our mission.

The Take The Reins (TTR) board of directors is comprised of horse owners with a shared interest in defeating cancer in horses. We are ambassadors for our equine friends in the arena of cancer research and treatment. Our personal experiences with cancer heighten the awareness of applications for human cancer developed as the result of equine cancer research.
